A smarter way to boat in North Texas this summer
Posted by Freedom Boat Club of North Texas
Every June, the same conversation happens around North Texas. Gas prices are up. Flights are expensive. Hotels aren't cheap. And somewhere between the family calendar and the family budget, a lot of people quietly decide that the big summer they imagined is going to have to wait.
But here's what we've noticed after years of watching people join Freedom Boat Club: the ones who find the best summers aren't always the ones who spend the most.
They're the ones who figure out something smarter.
We want to share what that looks like because it's actually one of the best arguments we know for membership, and it's playing out right now on Lake Lewisville and Lake Texoma.
Option one: stay local, and don't apologize for it
There's a version of "staying local" that feels like settling. This isn't that.
Lake Lewisville is one of the largest lakes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with over 29,000 acres of water sitting right in the middle of the metroplex, less than 30 minutes from most of North Texas. Lake Texoma, straddling the Texas-Oklahoma border, is one of the largest reservoirs in the country and home to some of the best striper fishing in North America. These are not consolation lakes. They are world-class waters.
When you're a Freedom Boat Club member, a premium boat is waiting at the dock every time you want to go.
You don't prep it. You don't maintain it. You don't trailer it. You book through the app, drive to the marina, step on the boat, and go.
No flight. No hotel. No baggage fees. No stress.
What you get instead is a summer of real, unhurried time on the water with the people you love and that's something a beach trip can't always guarantee even when you spend twice as much to get there.
Smart summer. Your water. Your terms.
Option two: explore Texas without buying a plane ticket
One of the things that surprises new members most is how far a Freedom Boat Club membership actually goes and we don't mean worldwide yet, we just mean Texas.
Your North Texas membership gives you access to 10+ locations across the state. Lake Travis in Austin. Galveston Bay. Corpus Christi. Rockport. Lake Conroe. That's a different lake or coastline every weekend of the summer, and every one of them is a drive, not a flight.
Think about what that looks like in practice. One weekend you're on Lake Texoma catching striper. The next you're cruising the bay in Corpus Christi. The weekend after that, you're watching the Austin skyline from the water on Lake Travis.
All of it included in your membership. All of it without an airport.
For families trying to make the most of June, July, and August, this kind of flexibility is hard to put a dollar value on. But if you tried to recreate it weekend by weekend with boat rentals, you'd spend far more and get far less.
Your membership. Your Texas summer.
Option three: travel anyway - your membership goes with you
For some of our members, summer means trips. Family visits, work travel, vacations that were already planned before anyone started worrying about gas prices. And this is where a lot of people are surprised by what their Freedom Boat Club membership actually does.
It goes with you.
With 400+ locations worldwide, your membership works far beyond North Texas. San Diego. The Florida Keys. Puerto Rico. Virginia & Maine. The Pacific Northwest. And internationally, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Dubai. If there's water nearby and a Freedom Boat Club location in range, you're already a member.
That's a meaningful shift in how you think about travel. Instead of leaving your membership sitting idle while you're in San Diego for a week, you're calling the local club and booking a morning on the bay before your afternoon meetings.
Instead of your family vacation being the one week you get on the water, it's just another week in a summer that's already full of it.
One membership. The whole world.
The bigger picture
What all three of these stories have in common is the same thing - a Freedom Boat Club membership is built around access, not ownership. You're not buying a boat. You're buying the ability to be on the water whenever you want, wherever you are, without any of the work that usually comes with it.
No maintenance. No storage. No insurance headaches. No depreciation. Just a premium fleet ready for you at the dock, a team that handles everything behind the scenes, and a summer that actually feels like one.
If you've been on the fence about joining, this is a good summer to get off it. Lake Lewisville and Lake Texoma are beautiful right now. The boats are ready. The only thing missing is you.
Come take a tour. We'll show you exactly how it works — and we think you'll leave wondering why you waited.
